  • Contrasty and sharp images...how to achieve this effect...photoshop?

I work for an architecture firm and they LOVE lOVE love the images from this firm and want ours to look similiar. Is there a way to to get these images CONTRAST and SHARPNESS? the sunlight source looks very bright and blown out but doesn't effect the whole image. Is this more in post production??

    here is the firm's website:

    Thanks for any help!! ;D

to achieve this kind of images it needs more than just contrast and diffusive glows, it really would take time, pacients and lots and lots of practice :-\

dupe your image layer. gaussian blur it roughly 2 pixels (obviously depending on the size of your image) so its decently blurred but still recognizable, and then set blending mode to overlay. decrease opacity.

this will give you the bloom effect.

another cheap trick is to dupe your layer > grayscale > set to overlay.
this will give you the contrasty / harry potter look.

hope this gives you a decent starting point.

I have noticed that when you do diffuse glow it seems to blow out the entire image, when I think the power of most of their images seems to keep the overall image very crisp but have the effect that the sun or sky is very strong. It maybe just an exposure setting on the physical camera of the original render??!?!

that cheap works (grayscale to overlay) any more of those? maybe we should start a photoshop trick topic feed?
