  • Interior Animation with Exterior Environment Image

I'm trying to do an interior animation with a believable exterior environment image. My issue is that when the camera is rendering along a path the background image outside of the window is not rotating along with it and looks fixed and therefore unrealistic.

I've tried HDRI images and they work ok, but I need a specific image, a strip mall.

So far, I've just left it as a blue color gradient map .png file as the image outside of the window. Removing all notion of anything real outside.

Has anyone else found a decent solution for this issue?

If you map your stripmall image onto a plane or curved backdrop it should work ok. But you usuallly need very hi res images, since you only see a small portion at a time.

But even placing the image in the background should give you motion. The thing is, the background is infinitely far away, so if your image is of something in the foreground or middleground, it won't move realistically (it will move like it's a far away mountain). So mapping to a plane that you can place at the correct distance should help.

Yeah I've been playing with the curved background and it seems to be working ok, just curious what the consensus was for this type of issue...thanks again

So I've basically built the exterior. A road, sidewalk, benches, trash cans and a tree...it definately matches what I wanted to do as opposed to mapping an image in the background.
