Re: depth of field controlling horizon

Hey Andy - I can't get any response out of film width at all (and one of your images seems to be missing? so i'm not even sure what i should see, but there is no change to the FOV)

here is one with film width 36:

and here's the same with film width set to 3600:

    everything else is the same:
    shutter speed: 100
    f-number: 2
    ISO: 100
    DOF focal distance: 35
units are in inches. center of nearest object is 35 inches, center of farthest is 166 inches. pedestals are 10x10x14 high, spheres are 10 inch diameter.

    settings:

what does film width actually do? can't find any docs on this anywhere.

    thanks!

Re: depth of field controlling horizon

Heh, maybe that's what I get for posting in the Rhino thread with VFSU :P
I wonder if the problem is that you are relying on the Rhino camera which may negate the effect of the vray camera? What happens when you have exposure checked?

AFAIK, the different settings mimic what a real camera does - and film width is similar to something like sensor size in digital cameras. Typically, smaller sensor cameras have greater depth of field.

      Here are my settings:

BTW - I posted two images, it seems like one of them was slow to load when I looked. Hope they are both there.

same effect when exposure is checked, and when i override FOV in the camera settings as you show. maybe film width isn't yet supported in VFR? anyone?

i'm seeing the other image now.

        thanks,

Just use zdepth images to help you select the area to blur and Gaussian blur filter to use. Using the "select " menu "color range. "..
