well... it does seem to be a great new.
so far, vray has really helped me to provide a better service to my clients, and we all know that someday, the software will be so powerfull that our presentations will be seriously more realistic. i hope this can be a first step for that.

          The PR sounds good:

Corey Rubadue, founder of ASGVIS, and now the Director of Chaos Group USA. “It not only acknowledges the importance of V-Ray in the CAD
market, but also firmly places the plug-ins for Rhino and SketchUp in the official V-Ray development pipeline.”

I don't agree with the Idea of sell the company to a big fish. The chaos group development have a very different approach in all aspects in the creation of vray I hope they keep separate the way vray for max turn since is very difficult to understand.

Hope is good to have it. Wish the best and enrich the soft and keep the great communication with the users as asgvis was.

                My 2 cents. Kelper.
The best that I can do is keep learning, and the Renderings are just a small step to get real.

I don't think Vray for 3D studio max is more difficult than the sketchup/rhino counterpart. I'll just say that 3d studio has so many settings that it's easy to get lost in parameters, but the core functionality is there, and if you learn one, you basically know how to use the other.

I too hope that this news means more development for the asgvis plugin

this should make things a tad easier to develop, we're looking forward to it Not sure what will happen with the forums, but I'm sure we'll figure something out.

I would hate to loose this forum, but would like to get access to the Chaos forum.
And like the others I hope that more resoouces will accelerate the development of this plugin.

                        Re: probably a good news

i do hope that the forum, the webinars, the incredible level of access to the developers, can be maintained. otherwise, we're pretty much working in the dark. the willingness of this community to help newcomers is, i think, critical to VfR and VfSU success with small cad artists like myself... the big companies can afford to pay for professional training, but it's really hard for us little people.

congrats on this! best of luck moving forward.

There won't be an immediate increase in developers just because it will take some time for both sides to get acquainted with the other's code and stuff like that. But Chaos Group certainly has a lot more resources for development than we did on our own.

Also for those worried about the forums going away - don't. The forums have always been a huge asset for us and our users and we have no plans to change that.

I think its fantastic news. This can only mean a better plug-in for us. There is a reason why V-ray owns 70% of the rendering engine market in arch / viz. Chaos Group get's great reviews for their forums and customer service.
