What is the best way to render wood? I am rendering a maple table. Currently, I am using the wood 2 material in v-ray library, but the wood grain comes out way too big for the scale of the piece of wood. How do I get the grain to be at the right scale to the wood? Any ideas?

Re: Rendering Wood
Instead of using the SU mapping tools, use the Rhino ones ;D
Here's how:
1. Fire up the properties panel (if you haven't already)
2. Select 'texture mapping' from the properties panel dropdown box
3. Change to custom mapping (or check 'Show advanced UI')
4. Select the projection type (I suggest planar or box mode for a table)
5. Change the mapping size to something convenient (in document units)
From the advanced UI you find a 'show mapping' -button, which gives you a mapping widget that you can manipulate in the viewports using standard Rhino tools (scale, move, rotate etc.). The widget is shown with dashed edges, so it's easy to recognise.
For more help on the various options in texture mapping (and everything else in Rhino) just press F1 when inside a command or editing values.
The helpfile exists for a good reason
