  • IMPORTING FROM MAX

Has anyone the answer for the followed question?

    - How can i import objects from Max correctly? I mean without the need of fixing the parts. I usually import in 3ds. and the parts come messed up, besides i have to scale all to correct size.

PLEASE, if you have a solution i´ll give you a kiss...hehe

Import in ".obj" file, for me is the best way!

      I have the same problem.

And yes. Using *.obj files improves things.

I have a lot of 3d models in *.max files and have big problems getting them in to Rhino or SU.
High resolution model export out of Max3D usually produce "64k poly ..." error. If I work with smaller files it is OK.

Is there a better/different way? Any kind off converter?

        I don't know for sure :-\

Only I know is that my export .obj files work good for now, because when you export in max to obj files there are an option in 3D max to export whith settings of rhino, and it work perfect...

May be, the problem is in your models! Did you try *FBX format, it is a good alternative.

            Re: IMPORTING FROM MAX

the .3ds format is stil ok to use but if the model is too big then you will have probs. to keep from fixing parts i just convert one part to a editable poly in max then i use the attach option it now has on its modifier tree and i attach all the parts together that way when i import to sketchup they are still attached as components or groups. this works fine for me and yes this was a big issue for me once. hope this help guys
