  • Glass Not Transparent

    Hi,
    i've got a problem with my glass-material.
Light passes through, but the white Background behind it appears grey.
It's the basic material I imported that comes with VfR.
I've also checked "Affect Shadows" box and unchecked "Reflect On Backside"

    Any ideas?
    I'm using the physical cam.

If you make a render without the glass, do you have more illumination? I'm wondering if you have enough direct and bouncing lights to illuminate the interior?
Also what is your value for Reflection/Refraction Max Depth?

I didn't change the Global Switches.
I used the vray express presets (yellow sphericals)

Yes, the image is brighter when i remove the glass (stripe in the middle)

Here's a screenshot of some of my parameters, Environment Color is white:

The background look gray. Due the physical camera you have to increase the multiplier to the Background color in order that it appear white.

You have to enable the option called "Affect Alpha". It is bellow Affect shadow on the material editor.

              aarrghh...overlooked this one.
              Thanks a lot!!

And about the brightness? Is it normal that the glass makes the scene darker?

                Re: Glass Not Transparent

yes.... glass lets light through but also reflects doesn't it, so even though lots of light passes through, some gets reflected back to the outside. Where as an opening with out glazing lets 100% of the light in because there is nothing in the way
