• Animation Sequential Querie

    Hi All,

I am looking into doing a large amount of animations for a company
and may have access to a 1000 core processor (fingers crossed).

When doing these animations is it possible to render them non-sequentially?

Does anyone know if there is a way to break up the rendering and do all the frames at one time?

    It's work in progress........

1000 core processor is to good for the basic-only-VfR. The DR initialization time should be the limiting problem since it could be approx. 20s. So, your hardware doesn't help to speed up the time per frame. Maybe you should look at other Vray software like 3dsmax or cinema4d.

Here you find a trick with multi Rhino+Bongo instances started at multiple computers that could help to save some render time, but there could be a license problem:

      Thanks Micha,

Before i say anything else I am huge fan of your work!! ;D Thank you very much for replying

So what you are saying is its really pointless paying 20k for a super computer when i can get a better result with a few i7 960 towers and bongo (which i have just recently purchased) we currently have 6 towers using DR spawner to spread the load all have there own copy of Rhino on each, Which will avoid any licensing issues, but i am unsure of what you mean in the link in regards to :

"if you set the render output of all machines to the same network drive, than the computers "know" which frame can be rendered as next. Bongo place a placeholder file of the current rendered frame so that no other computer start at the same frame."

is there a tutorial on how to do this that you know of ?

i am just teaching myself Bongo at the moment and think this might be a good tool to have on my belt.

Thanks again look forward to any other comments

      Cheers

Thnak you for the nice words.

Here a screenshot from what I mean. You need to set the file output of bongo of each machine to the same network drive. In my case it's the directory "Frei" at the computer "Master".
