  • Renders stop at "Building light cache" (newbie)

    Hello,

As I am about to start to do the production renderings, I added a sunlight system to my project yesterday and have since been trying to find good render settings, mainly trying out the .visopt files delivered with Vray. Yesterday evening I set up my computer to render overnight only to find that 7 hours later, it had only managed to make it 1/5 through the "Building Light Cache" pass... Trying out different settings this morning I realised that all .visopt files that include "Light Cache" as their secondary engine seems to operate at the same speed, even if I use the files called "very_low" (e g, "qi_gmc_lc_very_low"). Is this really correct or what is the problem? Considering the speed it was going at tonight, it would take me 5 days to render a single image (oh, output size was something around 550x450; very small), not to mention what will happen when I start doing it the size I need! Please help, I am desperate!

In the "Render Progress" window it says something about

"Bitmap file "F:\Rhinoceros\Renderer\V-Ray\Training\Textures\Specklessparse Grayscale.jpg" failed to load: cannot open file" and I am guessing that this might have something to do with the sunlight system? I am on Windows 7 so the path above doesn't even exist and I can't find where to change it..

I am on a new Macbook Pro so I don't think the computer is the problem, however I don't have that much space left on my harddrive but that shouldn't have anything to do with it I suppose..?

Any help would be deeply, deeply appreciated. Its my diploma project and I'm running out of time..

Try to find only the file or see if your materials bitmaps are all well linked.
