  • Fabric mapping

    Hi all,
I need to render a seat, where the cushions are covered with fabric.
To make a simple colored fabric I created a material with Diffuse-Checker, I created the mapping channel, Box projection, and this is what I got.
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14716476/Fabric%20texture.jpg

Portions of the cushion look ok, others look strange or crappy.
Any recommendations, any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thank you,
    Guido

    Hi Guido
I would like to see the mapping widget, but you can export the geometry as .obj and the import it back.
    This should do the job.

I don't understand. I have no mapping widget in Rhino, just Rhino's toolbar where you can add a Texture Mapping channel for the selected object.
Doing that round-trip through obj transforms the surfaces into meshes. I tried that but the result looks the same.

      Thank you,
      Guido

The Mapping widget is the physical representation of the projection type that you are using for the texture mapping. You just have to click the icon "Show mapping". You may want to try the uvw unwrap mapping type instead of box.
