  • ATTENTION !!! don't rush with update (vray_demo_150202_rhino5_x64)

edit: pardon, I've got a newsletter email announcing this demo already

    Hi

Without getting any email notification on my email from CHAOS I installed the recent build, expecting to find less bugs this time. (vray_demo_150202_rhino5_x64) as it is written on the name is a demo version. Apparently the list of trials in the download section is gone.
Logically I got a huge CHAOS logo on my render as well as restriction on the size of my render.

As you can guess there is no way I can't purchase the new version and get the hardware key on my pc so fast.

May I ask again what are the improvements in this final release? Can we expect updates on the final build as well, or should wait for the next few years?

Is it the proxy by the way working now? The video demonstration for proxy shows it in action but all parts consist of 1 single material! Is it properly working when proxy object consists of several materials too?

This time I will not rush with up-grade my licenses

The release was planed for end march, so here is it.

So far I see there a many known bugs at the tracker, I would wait to use it for production. I don't understand why it is released without that a bug free beta was available. Many user will be disappointed by the quality of the first final release.

Q1 - So the beta for Rhino 5 64bit that is available for download is buggy? Should I not install it? Because I just downloaded the beta but haven't installed it yet.

Q2 - The email I received seemed to make me think the program was available for purchase? On that note, is it only available for purchase from a reseller?

You can install it for Rhino 64bit without to loose your working 1.05.29 (matured and stable ). Don't rush.

Don't rush to use it for projects. I use 1.05.29 daily and I will do it some months more and try the new version from time to time on my 1.05.29 scenes. If I run in any problem, than I can use my 1.05.29 setup. I'm sure the new version will be great, but I think it need time to be rock solid.

Yesterday I removed the 64 bit demo and installed again the previews one- vray_beta_148198_rhino5_x64
Apart from that on the same computer I keep the old stable one 1.05.29 running on Rhino4 (luckily the x32 and x64 bit don't interfere)

I will probably go for update shortly before 30th of june, as it is the latest day for possible update

                    Hello all-

I just wanted to point out a couple of things.

1.There are a lot of fixes and changes in between the 1.48.198 version and 1.5.0202. The change log is included in the installation of V-Ray 1.5. The file is located at C:\ProgramData\ASGVIS\Documentation. I have also attached a ZIP file here.

                    2. We are actively processing bug reports and prioritizing both current and new issues for a service release. So, our development team is of course actively working on bug fixes and feature improvements. If you find a bug, please report the issue with as much detail as possible on how to reproduce the issue.

                    Thank you for your feedback.

                    Best regards,

                    Corey

I know there are some hickups, but that is growing pains, nothing that is stopping me to use it.It is very stable,it does not crash, much more flexibility with the materials, the dome light is a big big improvement, the ies light works perfectly, and the lens effects is fun to play with.
It is a giant step from 1.05
