  • Vray 1.5- Domelight with HDR dominates over GI i bgcol environement tab

    Hi,

I have impression that dome light completely dominates over settings in environment tab (Gi & background). Is it recommendable to use new domelight feature without activated settings in environment slot?
    thanks

If you are using the Dome light, you don't need to use the environment setting, you can turn them off unless you want to have anything different than the HDRI on the dome light. For example a sun system in the Environment + HDRI in the dome light, etc.

      thanks Fernando,

      so far so good.
But ,if I don't use sun linked to environment slot, nor exposure is controlled by physical camera anymore, which would be the next parameter for controlling the intensity of my scene (without increasing intensity of dome light) ?

      Thanks again

        Hi
I think that to be as physically accurately we should use the physical camera and physical units (for example lumens) all the time no matter that you are not using the sun system. If you don't want to use the physical camera nor the multiplier of the dome light ,which I think is the easy and the correct area to control the intensity of the light, you can use the color mapping to reduce the brightness of the scene. Again, this is not physically correct.

Is that possible to find somewhere the files used in the "dome light" video tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=QT2wyEdkedY), the rhino scene, the VISOPT file, the materials and the HDRI.
Just to understand faster how it work
            Thank you in advance.
