  • Positive experience, good vibrations

    Hi there,

I was dealing with Rhino file (only 10% mesh) 1.9 GB
    Final render at 12 k * 5 k pixels ; rendering time 18h.
Vray really performed well! I rendered it into vfb (no "save into render output" nor "render to VRimage" was used)

If enough RAM is installed, the frame buffer limit is at approx. 12000x8000 pixel - if I remember me right it's the same for 1.05 and 1.5.

      Sorry- in 1.05 and 1.5 -our limit is 11990 * 19500- (over 11993 * 19501- vray crashs)
      Best wishes

Thank you for the detailed limit size - good to know.

          I had no problems with 12 000 x 5 000 ! Vray 1.5; i7; 8gb ddr3 on laptop

It's very hard to quantify the limitations. You have to take into account the scene itself, a complex scene will crash sooner then a simple one at a high resolution. I don't believe there is a programmed or hard limit, its more about "at what point do I run out of available RAM". The computer itself is a big factor too, I believe the saying is "your mileage may vary".

There is a quantified limit for the frame buffer. Vlado wrote it some weeks before at a thread somewhere - I can't find it now. If I remember me right, it's a 2GB per channel limit and he wrote, that it could be set higher in the future. I wish he doesn't wait to long.
