  • Rhino + VRay vs Modo

    Hello Again!
I have a separate issue here. Besides my office dragging their feet about upgrading to Rhino 5, I have a Co Worker that is insisting that we dump rhino and move to Modo. He says that it has a moderate learning curve, but once you learn it youll be able to render faster, with the same quality as VRay and you can also do animations, physics stuff, movement in animations and be able to do all of this in the same program. He also says that Modo is way more user friendly than rhino.

I really dont know what the best choice is. I have been using rhino for about three years now. I guess the only thing that is concerning me is the learning curve. That and, I have no idea how long it will take for me to get as good in Modo as I am in Rhino. (by the way, we only use 3D rendering for products. Mostly still life images and the occasional walk through or turntable. We arent doing commercials or anything like that)

What do you guys think about that? Any of you ever use Modo?

    Hi,

I think in general Modo is more comparable to Max than to Rhino.
If you're modelling products and will use your models for production, it's better to stay with surfaces than to go to a mesh-only workflow.
