  • How to see the texture mapped on dome light?

    Hi,

I think it will be useful to see how hdr texture is mapped on dome light! Unfortunately setobjectdisplaymode to "render" for dome light - does not show up the texture.
Process requires many test renders before set up properly rotation and repetition (yes repetition, because size of the soft box matters for studio renders) of the texture.

A direct visual feed back in the view port would be great!

Do you know some way to visualize the dome light with its texture in the viewport?
    thanks

Right now this is not possible with the production render. But I use RT to change the rotation of my HDRI. Whit RT you can see the HDRI in the VFB.

The Rhino environment setting allow to show a HDRI at the Rhino background. So you need to find the relation between VfR env and Rhino env first and than you could manual use it. Cumbersome, but maybe better than nothing. (the env option is available if you set the Rhino renderer as render engine).

I hope in the future the will be an option at the dome light like "show at Rhino viewport". Should be not so difficult to implement, the basic code is implemented on the Rhino side. I add the wish to the bug/wish report system now - case 8331.
