    Hello Everyone!
I am a freelance furniture designer and I use Rhino 5 and VRay for all of my product rendering. I have gotten pretty good over the year and I would like to start a side business doing rendering for other people. I have done some side jobs in the past through Craigslist posts, but getting a decent client on that is a hit or a miss (with a lot of misses).

I am looking to see if any of you have any advice on getting this side "business" of mine started. How do you get decent clients? How much do you charge? Do you charge per hour on the modeling/initial renderings, and then have a flat rate for all of the post rendering adjustments and re-renders? I would like to make an extra $500/month to help me pay off my loans. If any of you have any advice at all please let me know. Please reply if you have any questions cause I respond quickly.

    Thanks to Everyone!

    Ola Rey.

I started my Visualisation Studio [Helldoor] an year ago. It's a One-Man-Studio, with focus on 3D and Drawn Architectural Visualisation, and also Graphic Design.

I have a Masters in Architecture and therefore know a lot of potential customers {fellow students and profs}. Furthermore had I already made some architectural visualisations for archi-offices, I had already been working for in the past. That's why I had already some "connections" = customers. Making a few projects for them, after establishing the Studio, gave me the opportunity to build up my homepage (with some nice help from a web-developer freind of mine). The homepage was ready in the middle of August 2013. Having this done, I designed a lot of flyers and spread them out to a whole bunch of architectural offices and ad agencies in my city (cetrtainly about 120). You can find these using certain key words in google (incl. your city name and the sphere of interest), but also in profi online databases. I also made a Facebook page, which I begged my Facebook friends to spread around. And also - business cards! You will always need them and you can give them to friends, who for their part can give them further to their bosses or collegues.

    So, shortly:
    . Homepage
    . Business Cards
    . Flyer / Ads
    . Connections, Freinds,...
    and
. Patience - this one is essential.

I wish you luck with your plan!

Thank you very much Helldoor. I greatly appreciate the feedback. I definitely know the power of having a good website.

Well, I don't really, but one should do his/her best... =] If you already have the page - then make some kick-ass flyers and give it a try.

        Good luck.
