Buying a new computer. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone!
Like stated in the title, I am thinking about buying a new workstation/computer for myself to modeling and do renderings on. Do any of you have any advice on what I should be looking for? So far, I am thinking that I should be putin gmy money into a strong, multiple core CPU and memory. Anything else? Brands or sites?
