  • Nice felt in new installer images

Congratulations to the team for the release of V-Ray for Rhino 2!
I'm quite pleased that it's a free upgrade for us

In the installer you put new images (congrats to Micha and Dustin Brown!), that's cool.

I like very much the dark grey felt on what looks like a speaker, is the material available in some way or another?

    Thanks!

So, is Dustin Brown reading this NG?
I would love to get info on this felt material!

      Hi Marc
Here is the link to download a scene that have two version of a felt material similar to the one in the V-Ray installer. I don't have the same texture that Dustin used, So I just download one from the internet. I hope this work for you.

Fernando, I have a question regarding the material your posted:
Why is there a Diffuse layer? There's already the BRDF layer and if I delete the Diffuse layer there's no visible difference to my eye.

          edit:
With the Diffuse layer the render time is 1m 48.7s while without it's 1m 41.8s

          edit 2:
Is it to have a preview in Rhino's viewport?

          Thanks!

            Hi
The diffuse layer is just to have a viewport representation of the texture. In the BRDF layer I have a falloff with two different tone of gray to have a better effect on the felt. Unfortunately we can't see the texture in the viewport if we have it on a falloff map. So that is why I have the diffuse layer with a White Acolor in the transparency slot. Otherwise, will be very hard to control the texture mapping if we can't see the texture on the viewport.
So, yes, it is just to have a preview of the texture in the viewport.
