I am trying to render crystal and there are certain parts that i cant get to render correctly ( see photo). can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong in order to create the correct effect? test_model.zip
Are you talking about the blurry part on the bottom? I messed with it a little in my personal studio environment and I think it would greatly benefit from a simple infinite plane and an HDRI lighting+ background/reflection layer. Since the model and materials are mostly reflective, you are getting a lot of dark spots from the sky and such. Also, you might want a darker ground to get more credit for your metal base.
I think I pretty much got this the way i want it, except for these two reflections I cant figure out how to remove.... I tried the light settings and their is nothing in my GI that would cause it. what do you guys think?
Hi
That reflection is coming from the environment and it is due the form of the geometry. You can go to the metal material and override the reflection with another image or color to avoid that hard reflection. You can also trying rotating the environment to see if you can reduce the effect. I recommend you also increase the refraction max depth on the glass material, to add more levels of refraction calculation and achieve more realism on the glass.
