  • How to setup the firewall for DR?

    Hi,

in the past I had no problem to use DR. I don't used DR since a while, but today I have this problem at my Windows 7 machines:

    dr host: 192.168.1.7:20215
Could not connect to host 192.168.1.7:20215: Es konnte keine Verbindung hergestellt werden, da der Zielcomputer die Verbindung verweigerte.
Could not use any of the selected (1) hosts for distributed rendering!

I use Avast and I'm not sure how to set up is so that DR works again? Which components of Vray should get all rights at the master firewall.

    Ciao,
    Micha

The german part of the error message says, that the target computer refuse the connection. So maybe it's something to setup on the slave computer.

I had that problem after installing a build in December and this is what Corey told me to do,and it works.

can you check to see if the VRLServer is running as a service on your DR nodes? If it is running as a service, please stop the service, set the Start Up Type property of the service to "manual".

I just want to had that lately I have a problem again with the DR not every time,it is like the DR won't let go of the license, when I go to check at localhost:30308 ar the license are busy.

        It doesn't help.

The service is visible at the task manager, but not started.

        Thank you for your hint,
        Micha

              Micha,

I use McAfee, and in my firewall setting xmldrspawner.exe have full access.

the file is located in c:\programdata\asgvis\common\x64\vc10\distributed rendering\xmldrspawner.exe

This is the only file related to Vray that is listed in my firewall

Looks like I found the reason. I deinstalled and reinstalled Vray and found, that the spawner ini was reset to the old ports at the slave. Since I like to to use VfR1 and VfR2 I need an own parallel port setup. This setup was reset. Now, after I set the right port at the slave spawner ini again it works.
