  • Is there an easy way to apply plywood end grain to curved edges?

    Hi all,

I want to know if anybody can share a quick and easy method to apply the layered veneer edge you find on plywood sheets to a model that has curved edges?

I would appreciate any tips or advice! Attached is a screenshot of the curved edge I am talking about.

    Have a great day!

    Tom

The best way is to remodeling the edge using 2 sweep rails. You will not need to add any UV. Maybe surface mapping so you can control the scale of the mapping

I use box mapping often. The little jump of texture isn't visible often. Also cylindrical mapping is an option, but the texture could be stretched at some areas.

A third way - duplicate the edge curves and recreate the surface per 2sweep. If the result isn't homogeneous enough than you could rebuild the curves with a high count before and use this object as custom mapping object.
