  • distributed render with Rhino

I am trying the distributed rendering. I have rhino and v-ray installed on my main computer, and then distributed rendering spawner installed on a second computer in a wired network. I set up the distributed rendering settings, and I am able to find the two servers, one is the local machine, and the other is the machine with the spawner.

However, when I do rendering, the command line pop up window doesn't seem to show anything, like a progress update. See the attached screenshot. Is it normal? Or do I need to do some other settings?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Please make sure the DRSpawner is the same version on all machines.
Then, double-check the port used. Simply open %programdata%\ASGVIS\V-Ray DRSpawner.ini and make sure port number is 202011.
Furthermore, please make sure that access to this port is not being blocked.

Let me know if this resolves your problem!

    Kind regards,

      Hi Peter,
There is no ini file in the ASGVIS folder. (See screenshot) I searched the folder for the V-Ray DRSpawner.ini file, but couldn't find any.
What would you recommend me to do?

      Thanks.

        Hello, Wendong,

Could you please advise what is the name of the file you used for installing V-Ray? Does it happen to be a demo version?
Reinstalling V-Ray 2.0 for Rhino should populate that directory with both the VfR directory as well as several others, including the .ini file I have previously mentioned.

        Kind regards,

          Hi Peter,
I am using V-ray to Rhino EDU version. Is this the reason why I cannot use sprawner?

Attached is the image of the content of the ASGVIS folder in the computer that has Rhino installed. It doesn't have sprawner ini file either.

              Hello, Wendong,

              Please run XMLDRSpawner.exe located in C:\ProgramData\ASGVIS\Common\x64\vc10\Distributed Rendering\

The V-Ray For Rhino.ini file should contain these lines:
              [DRClient]
              port=20211

Make sure the port is the correct number.

Once the XMLDRSpawner is running, you should be able to use that machine during distributed rendering.
Let me know if you require any further assistance!

              Kind regards,
              Peter Chaushev
