  • FBX Import - material issue?

    Hi together,

currently I'm working on a project in a pretty foresty area. I have a set of HQ tree models (as OBJ and FBX, including textures), but also an issue: When I open a FBX-tree in Rhino and start V-Ray RT it renders with materials. These are nicely bright and look pretty spot on. When I make the textures myself [the 'visConvertRhinoMat' command doesn't work(?)], using the same textures the imported materials were using and apply them, everything is suddenly a lot darker.
I compared the Texture Palette presets from the built-in Rhino Renderer and saw, that these use a Gamma of 1.0, but there aren't any other differences.
The problem could be solved using the multiplyer option for the diffuse layer fir the V-Ray material. Using a 2x multiplyer I could achieve the same brightness as the imported materials, but I don't really like that, as the texture structure and colour wash out that way. Linear Workflow (which also makes materials darker) is disabled.
Do you have any ideas, where I'm missing something?

    Thanks in advance.

Hello, and apologies for the late reply!

I just tested the visConvertRhinoMat command and it is functioning properly.

Regarding your other problem, when you load a file into a V-Ray Bitmap Texture, please double-check what Color Space you are using and see whether editing this setting resolves the issue.

    Kind regards,
