  • Quadro and GTX?

i currently have a Quadro 4000 in my workstation and am looking to add a GTX1080 to use for GPU acceleration in VRay 3.

    Will this work?

I have read read on other forums about people having issues with using different cards and not being able to load 2 drivers into the one system.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Andrew

The Quadro drivers often cause problems when coupled with GTX cards, so if you have a mixed Quadro/GTX setup, go with the GTX drivers and it should work like a charm. Installing Quadro drivers on a mixed setup would make your OS hang on load screen and you will need to reboot in Safe Mode and delete the driver manually (I recommend using the free tool Display Driver Uninstaller to do that if that scenario happens to you) , then install the GTX one. However, recently many users have reported issues with NVidia GTX drivers 377.XX and later, so if you don't have any particular reason to stick to the latest and greatest NVidia drivers, I recommend you install 376.09 . This is the most stable driver for the past few months I've used.

Hi Alexander, Thanks for your response. I didn't get notified and only just saw this so sorry for my late reply.

I just got off a live chat with Nvidia support and they advised that you cannot run Quadro and Geforce cards on the same system.

Based on that and the instability issues you've reported, I think I'll stick with the Quadro for now. I'm using it in a busy production environment so stability is critical.

      Thanks again,
