  • VFR in safe mode

Ive had some bsods when cpu rendering. Is there a way to get VFR to run in safe mode on win 7? Rhino starts fine but vray cant find license. I would like to try this to make sure the bsod reason is not 3rd party drivers. Thanks in advance!

I don't have an answer to your problem but my guess is that if Windows is running in safe mode that the vray license service probably isnt running and needs to be started along with whatever dependencies it requires. After that happens it'll probably be able to get its license.

Here's what it displays under Win10 when you start Rhino in safe mode and try to load VfR. Kinda proves Travis' theory.

        Hope this helps!

The V-Ray Online License service cannot be started if Windows is running in Safe mode.
V-Ray itself cannot be loaded if Rhino is running in Safe mode. There are some dependencies which cannot be loaded themselves. If I'm not mistaken, Rhino renderer itself, cannot be loaded in Safe mode.

As I mentioned a bit earlier in https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...when-rendering , V-Ray itself cannot cause BSOD. It is just a symptom for perhaps a hardware issue. Is your machine, by chance, similar to the one in the other thread?
