  • Very missed - slider info about previous&current state

    Hi,

if I use the sliders than I have a strong problem - after a little movement I don't know anymore, how the previous color was looking in relation to the current one. For example - I have a dark grey and want to get it a little bit brighter or darker. But how to adjust if there is no comparison shown? If I open the full color control it's much better - I see a previous vs current color field and I see the numerical value.

So, my request is illustrated at screenshot 3 - during the user moves the slider the color field is divided into previous&current color fields and a little numerical tooltip popup. So, a precis adjustment is possible.

Maybe it sounds like a little wish only, but it would be very useful.

    -Micha

Edit: By a mistake posted in the bug section, but it should be at the wishes.

Thank you for your suggestion and apologies for the late reply!
This behavior is,as you mentioned, already introduced in the V-Ray Color Picker where we would like it to remain for the time being. Keeping its window open will provide you with the functionality you described as it does not need to be reopened each time a new slider/input box is selected.
Splitting the color boxes may introduce unnecessary confusion, especially with users not yet familiarized with the UI.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

I like the idea of the simple slider for quick adjustments, but without a feedback, where the slider is and was, the slider is not so useful. Open the the color window is an additional step and cause a window more at the screen, which needs to be moved away. Couldn't not a tooltip popup at least, so that the user can observe the amount of change please? Like at my last screenshot? So, for example the user could see, the slider was at 0.150 and is moved to 0.201.

Please try to understand me - the slider is fine, but a better feedback is needed only.
