Wish: edge texture mode "same material"

Hi,

the edge texture allow to enable an edge smoothing between same object or not. That's a nice feature. Could the same be done for "same material" please?

Here an example - I would like to get round edges between all white objects, but not at the edges between pink objects and white environment. Best working in GPU mode.

Yesterday during an other project I run in the same situation again - I missed an edge smoothing between objects with the same material. The situation appears if object with the same material can't be joined but need to be handled like a single object.
