      Z-Depth

For some reason I succeeded in rendering a z-depth map with vray for rhino once. I don't know why I can't do it again. If I save out to png, it automatically saves the rgb, z-depth and normals maps.

I suppose joe left those for a test when he added the V-Ray VFB. It's probably not a great issue to enable them again, but I don't know what are the plans.

          Z-Depth

I get a Z_depth and a Normal-map with every image I save. Regardless format, jpg, png or tga I get 3 files every time I save an image

            Z-Depth

Yeah but the z-depth isn't always correct, it always looks like an alpha channel. I only got a correct z-depth once (don't know how)

              Z-Depth

its because the z-depth by default goes from 0 to 1000. If you have a small scene then there isn't enough z-change to actually see a difference
