  • Vray wish: edge-smoothing

    Hi Micha,

Several render engines like e.g. mental ray or renderman compliants support
    user configurable
edge-smoothing at rendertime. See here http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...112&id=7684178
    (the film about mental-ray improvements)
As you are a Vray-user, you might ask the developers for something like that.

Doing the edge rounding in Subdivison Surfaces is an option. But then you
should also create the text in such a package.
As most SubD modellers support polygons with more than 4 edges you had only
one N-Gon on Top and bottom, which can easily be beveled (all at once) without
creating too much of extra geometry. This would not work nicely with
text created as Nurbs and then exported as a mesh. Rhino will subdivide top
and bottom of your letters, as it only works with quads and triangles.

... this is a kind of bump map. Very nice. Vlado, would be great if you find a way to implement it.
