  • VFB rendered images swap

couldn't find it in the wishlists:
it would be nice if the VFB (frame buffer window) could be modified to store several already rendered images... the goal: sometimes you make so little changes in the renderoptions or materials (e.g. change the multiplier of the secondary engine from 0.8 to 0.85) that it's really hard to see (or remember) the difference. if now I could simply swap to the previous rendered image or even then one before this would be a great improvement in workflow... sure, you can save the images and then check them in the windows explorer, but it's a few more steps to do. there would be an option to specify a maximum number of cached images or even a maximum RAM use restriction. what do you think about? ;D

What might help is to tell vray that you don't want to see the calculation phase. There is a check box for Show Calc Phase in both IR and LC. That way it will not change the previously rendered image until it actually gets rendered. Unfortunately there it isn't possible to load an image or anything into the frame buffer (other than rendering). In Max there is the capability to duplicated the frame buffer, but that is something we have yet to add in rhino or sketchup
