  • Specify port for render slaves

It would be really great if one could specify what port to use for a render slave. I doesn't seem like it would be too hard to add that field to the DR render settings dialog in Rhino and make it an argument to DRSpawner.exe on the slave machines.

If this were done, then it could be combined with some SSH port redirection wizardry to make it easy to use render slaves that are behind firewalls.

Is this something that could be done?

I would also like to see this happen but as of now all of the port stuff is done internally by V-Ray. However, I have made a request to get more control over this because at the moment all V-Ray DR happens on a single port. So if you run the 3dsmax V-Ray Spawner and our DR Spawner on the same machine it will block one from being able to work. So we may be able to accommodate this soon.
