showing mapping in viewports

I would like to know if will be possible to select which image will be show in the rendered viewport like it is possible for Rhinorender and Brazil.
For example if I would like to set a transparency map, today, I have to create a temporary material and the process it's very tedious.

Will this option be available for final V1.5?
