  • Separate lights as render layers

It would be a game changer if the direct and GI contribution of each light source could be saved as a separate render element (automatically, without having to render each one separately). It would have to be lighting, GI and reflection layers, maybe refraction too. Then you could adjust each light source separately in post without rendering again. Right now it has to be done manually, as far as I know, making it too cumbersome with more than just a few lights.

    Hi
If I'm understanding well what you want, this is possible right now with custom layers.
Please watch the video. It is not a pro video. I just did it to show you the tool.

you are very welcome. As I said in the video, you can do the same thing with materials. in the Option are inside the material editor you will find an option called "Material result", if you click on the three dots near it, you can pick a custom layer to isolate that material.

yeah, i'm always surprised by something =)

one thing that would be helpful in the future is to get the reflections separated out by light source as well. i don't mean specular, i mean if a light is on, then part of the scene gets brighter, and that would then contribute to reflections. the reflections would vary depending on which part of the scene is lit more or less. right now i'd have to turn each light on separately and render the reflections one at a time.

I know, it's a minute issue, but it does kind of change the scene.

            thanks!

I agree with this too. I'll make a request for this.
