This has probably been asked before but it would be my number one wish. I am not a fan of typing in a name for each of my materials and then looking at a long list of names. A palette of icons that I could drag onto objects would be awesome.

Hello, Steven,
Thank you for your suggestion!
Drag&dropping materials into the viewport is something the team has researched. Having slate material list view, on the other hand, is not something we've considered so far, but will log it for future discussions.

Thanks. I really like "Apply Materials" tool that Sketchup has for applying VRay materials. It looks like a paint can. It is a Sketchup tool in the Sketchup interface.Let there B3D

Drag&drop directly to Objects and Layers would be very nice (very long time wish...).
I just finish watching the 3.6 for SU video, i like the new features and the work done in the UI, could you please consider to redesign also the Browse materials window (the one that pop out assigning materials to layer)?
Something more convenient like the Library Panel in the Vray Asset editor, would be perfect, with thumbnails, grid and list view.
Also the right click > Apply Material to Layer problem described here it's not fixable with that menu, we need a new window like the one posted by me in that thread (which is the default used by Rhino).
Layers structure with CAD files could be very complicated and the current way is not working at all.

I think drag and drop will be difficult to implement. Meanwhile, maybe you should simply add a basic 'Apply Material to Selection' Button! It's such a common command to be hidden in a right-click (Ask new users -they never figure that out, we are just used to it) Now that the UI has been reworked it's easy to get this in the material setiings (in the middle column of the UI). If I remember correctly, the 3ds max material editor had this forever and other programs have assign buttons too.

It would be effective if there were a 2nd window/palette for VRay materials. This 2nd palette would just load up the materials and allow them to be dragged onto objects.
While on the subject, it would be fantastic if folders could be created in the materials palette. I sometimes get a hundred materials for a file. Also, I would like to import a whole folder of materials all at once.Last edited by SHoutzager; 29-11-2017, 09:20 AM.Let there B3D

Don't have any new info to share, just want to drop by and mention all your comments are considered in the design process of V-Ray for Rhino. Keep them coming!
