  • Exporting objects and naming lights

1.- When exporting objects from a scene, can I suggest that only the related materials are saved with the objects? Right now even exporting one single object (even one single line) results on a file that has all the materials from the original scene which creates an unnecessarily big file. Anything not related to the exported object should be purged in my opinion.

2.- There's still no synchronization of the light names between the asset editor and the Rhino interface. Renaming a light in either end should update the name on the other regardless on what interface I make the change, either Rhino or vray.

    Thank you for your feedback!
Regarding point 1 - you can use Purge Unused Materials (button below the V-Ray Material list). Rhino 6 has an option for exporting all or none of a plugin's data. Our devs will look into possible solutions for selective plugin data export. Will keep you updated.
Point 2 - there is one-way synchronization from V-Ray to Rhino in terms of Light names. Intensity and Color synchronization is two-way. It is recommended to use the Asset Editor's Lights list when working with V-Ray lights.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

Point 1: I'm aware of the material purge button but it means going to the file that has been exported to do that. Onthe other hand using -saveas or -export and select NO to export data is not a good option because then the vray materials of the exported objects are also lost (BTW this is also available in Rhino 5). The idea was to export the objects with only the materials that they use not all the other that might be on the source scene.
Point 2: Yes there's only one way sync (vray --> Rhino) although vray seems to add some extra characters like hyphens to the Rhino renamed light.
      Thank Peter.
