  • macOS Silent Install Fails

I'm attempting to perform a silent installation of V-Ray for SketchUp on a system running SketchUp Pro 2018 under macOS 10.13 "High Sierra" and the installation fails.

I'm following the instructions here and I've pasted the contents of the config.xml file at the end of this message:
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...y+for+SketchUp

    The terminal output is:
    Verifying installer integrity...OK.
tar: Error opening archive: Failed to open '/tmp/vrswrm-installer.app.tar.xz'
The file /tmp/vrswrm-installer.app does not exist.
    Automatic installation was successful!
cp: /Applications/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/V-Ray for SketchUp/extension/tools/VRMatQuickLook.qlgenerator: No such file or directory
chown: /Users/*********/.ChaosGroup: No such file or directory

Contrary to the "successful" message, nothing is installed. I also tried again without including Swarm, and the installation still fails:
    Verifying installer integrity...OK.
    Automatic installation was successful!
cp: /Applications/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/V-Ray for SketchUp/extension/tools/VRMatQuickLook.qlgenerator: No such file or directory
chown: /Users/********/.ChaosGroup: No such file or directory

Note that installing via the GUI works like a charm, but that's not an option for 70 Macs.

Does anyone have any suggestions or insights?

You can try the attached file.
SHOULDUNINSTALL is best to be set to 1
Also, for paths that include a username - you can use $USER variable.

Thanks, very much, Ivan. I'll try again using your .xml file. One question before I do: I noticed that your .xml file has "0" for the "INSTALL_SWARM" key, but I would like to silently install that, too. Can I change that to "1" so that Swarm also silently installs?

It's best to download and install it separately.
By the way - there's a new V-Ray build with some bug fixes you can get - https://download.chaosgroup.com/?product=47&platform=56

You can try also a simpler .xml

        For V-Ray

        Code:
        <DefValues>
         <Value Name="SHOULDUNINSTALL" DataType="value">1</Value>
         <Value Name="TELEMETRY" DataType="value">1</Value>
