  • Vray Standalone renders successfully VS. Vray for SketchUp doesn't

Hi, I am experiencing the issue that VRay for SketchUp will crash trying to render any given scene within SketchUp,
whereas VRay Standalone will render it without a problem with the same settings.
would like to find a way to revert to rendering from within SketchUp,
rather than using the current workaround of exporting .vrscenes for each SU scene and batch rendering through standalone.

    Any suggestions welcome

    File:
The file is the largest I have ever had in my 14 years of working with SketchUp (1.7GB).
It's a scene that includes an exterior commercial site as well as the interior fit-out.
Filesize is mainly due to the amount of high detail cars I have placed in the scene.

I have not yet used proxies to replace the car, but would try this if it helps.

    Software:
Version of SketchUp Pro is 18.0.16975 64bit.
    Version of VRay is 3.60.03.
    Windows 10 Pro

    Hardware:
    Intel i7-8700@3.2GHz 12 threads
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
    32GB RAM

    Thanks,
    Marco

Does the crash happen with every scene or just with particular large ones? Do you have MS Visual C++ Redistributable packages 2017, 2010 and 2013 installed?
Is your CPU overclocked? Do you render with CPU or GPU?

      Thanks for your support.
      1.
It happens with large scenes, in particular when all the geometry is turned on and render settings are high (Resolution 4K, quality 'medium' and up , GI on).
When I hide the complex geometry of cars and render at low resolution and quality, it usually renders fine from within SU.
Feels like there is a threshold of stability.

      2.
MS Visual C++ Redistributable packages installed:

      2005
      2008
      2010
      2012
      2013
      2017

      3.
      CPU is NOT overclocked.

      4.
      Render is with CPU.

      Thanks so much
      Marco

          Thanks for your support.
          sorry for the late answer.

I managed to solve the problem by replacing all high detail objects with proxies.

Renders now work like a charm.
          Even interactive.
          Even GPU.

          No crashes.
          No further examination required.

          Thamks for all your suggestions.
