    helo

i found weird behavior of displaced surface which was mirrored before , can u check this for me ?
and second complaint is shift feature which is not working at all for me /it behave like water level feature/

and can i ask if there is still a setting to hide object/material/ from reflections-refraction ? /i can t find it anywhere/

By mirroring, do you mean flipping surfaces based on a certain group axis in SketchUp, flipping the displacement texture within V-Ray or flipping the material texture in the SketchUp viewport using the SketchUp texture controls? None of these operations are known to produce any errors with displacement. Could you please illustrate what you have experienced?

The Shift parameter will shift the displacement surface up or down based on the normal of each face. For objects with displacement material they may look like being slightly scaled up/down.
Water level simply clips the geometry below a certain level. If you are experimenting with Displacement Shift while the Water level is toggled on (even if value is set to 0), it may still cause clipping, thus giving you the impression that changes to the Shift parameter produce the same results as with Water.

You can create a Generic material with opacity=0, rename it "Invisible_mtl". Then use an Override material, slot the material you want to not be displayed in reflections/refractions as base and use Invisible_mtl for the reflection/refraction slots. For more info, visit https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...7C+MtlOverride

      hi Peter !

      thank you for your reply

by mirroring i mean , just mirrored geometry in my case there was a roof suface /half roof to be precise/ and just mirror 1st half of roof surface to the other side and THEN i just apllied displacement material and result was like mirrored side has changed normals somehow but when i checked normals /of SU face/ there was no issue so it must messed up with displacement somehow ....

and shift just dont do what i want , and i want to push my displaced surface UP or DOWN by normal direction but its not working at all for me and no water level is disabled and here is the problem : in positive way there is all ok BUT when i put negative numbers all displaced face is gone ....

1st i made a rectangle then a group from it then mirror it by mirror plugin /mirror TIG/ and then material with 2d displacement map was applied

Could you please pack this project (Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project) and send over the archived file at support@chaosgroup.com for further investigation?

          Regards,

            ok
its only two rectangles so it is not a problem .
