  • Edge Texture not working in Bump Slot

Bashing my head against a wall for hours. Could be something I'm failing to do - but can't get the edge tex to work in a bump map.
The goal, is to use the EdgeTex to create rounded edges on a box.
No matter what I try, it doesn't work. It works fine in the diffuse slot - but not the bump map slot.
Attached is a test file, that highlights the problem and a screenshots + render.

    Hi,

Using the edges texture as bump is a special case in V-Ray and requires a custom mode of the bump map to be selected - Bump Texture Channel.
Here is the effect when the correct option is selected:

Thanks. That works. Please update your docs. It cost me fruitless day of experimentation -- for what was a one line solution!

The following info is available at the very beginning of the Edges texture overview description at https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VNFS/Edges.
The texture can also be used as a bump map (Bump Texture Channel mode) to produce a "round corners" effect for mesh objects.
I will pass along a recommendation to present this feature in a more illustrative way.

        Kind regards,
        Peter

I'm beginner. Can you explain how I will do this process from start to finish? Or is there any tutorial?

            Hi ecati,

Here's how you set this up:
            1. Create a Generic material

              Hi Konstantin,
Thank you very much for your reply.
The main thing I want to learn is this; How can we get "Edge" under "TexBumpGranite"?
