  • Problem with interactive render with never version 5 slow

Sorry to keep changing this but as I am waiting for a response, I'm playing with the settings to try to pin point the problem.
I am using the new version of V-Ray (5 for sketchup) along with sketchup 17,. As you can see, this model is still pixelated at 4 minutes in and actually looked the same at 8 minutes in. I think I have duplicated the settings with some other models that I've since tried and seem to render more quickly, yet, with the same machine, I can't get this model to responsively render in an interactive render.

However with the previous version of V-ray all models rendered and interactively rendered quickly and without pixelation. I'm seeing other pixelation problems in other models I'm now trying to render with the new version, but I will post those separately.

I noticed a hang up with "compiling kernels". I really don't know what that means but if that's of any help in figuring it out, I'm passing it on.

    Thanks

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi blueman26,

I believe this is caused by an internal noise limit that we fail to disable during interactive.

To confirm this you can try the following:
    - Disable interactive
    - Push the quality slider to High+
    - Enable Interactive and render
    - Select a region and wait for the noise to be cleared - it should be gone eventually

If that's the case then, it is a known issue that we will hotfix soon.

Excuse us for the inconvenience and thanks for reporting it!

    Regards,
    Konstantin

Hello, and thank you for your report!
In addition to Konstantin's comment, we've noticed there is a discrepancy between the kernel compilation process reaching 100% and the actual phase being "completed" (what you've marked in your screenshot).
This alone may put up to a minute and a half render time but only the first time you use V-Ray GPU although it does not seem to be the only cause of the noisy output.

As for the other models you are having trouble rendering, please provide details.
It may be a good idea to directly submit the scenes for investigation to support@chaosgroup.com .

      Regards,
      Peter

        Thank you for your responses.

Konstantin. I did deactivate Interactive Rendering and noticed that it was already at High+. I started a new Interactive render with a region and here is the result after 4 minutes; still not nearly a clean image. In fact, after a while, it got worse again as you can see in the other image without the clock (img 16). There is also some notation in red in the progress window

        Peter,

Can you please refresh my memory on how to provide you with scenes? Thank you

          Hi,

Well, even the High+ setting might not be enough in your case.
We will resolve this issue very soon, I'll let you know once there is a build available.

As for the scene - you can use Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer for example.
Just share the link in a private message.

          Thank you in advance,
          Konstantin

Ok Thanks. I did send the scene export to support. But if the build will solve the problem, that's fine. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't the model or my settings.

              Hi blueman26,

Have you tried the latest build?
Let me know if the issue persists.
