  • Globe Plants models crash SketchUp

I just purchased a set of Globe Plants models in SKP format and when I try to render one of them I get a total SketchUp crash. I have emailed Globe Plants about this but have not heard back. I assume they have been setup for an older version of VRay but I would think that Vray would be able to convert these setups to work.

    Hi,

I was able to reproduce the crash.
It'll be logged and investigated by the developers.

The issue is caused by the two-sided material slotted within another two-sided. When multiple objects all use such a material and at least one of them obscures another a crash occurs at render time.
To amend this, substitute the top-level two-sided material with the one nested within, then purge the unused materials.
For example in the scene you shared with us:
        1. Right-click on, let's say, "Leaves_5_base"
        2. Choose "Use as Replacement"
        3. Right-click on "Leaves_5" and choose "Replace in Scene"
        4. Repeat these steps for all other nested Mtl2Sided materials
Note that this material setup is actually not possible to achieve in V-Ray for SketchUp since 2016, so I assume the original materials predate V-Ray 3.

        Kind regards,
        Peter
