  • Vray 5 for Sketchup - MultiSub texture in diffuse

I Can't seem to get the correct results when using "Multi-Sub" on my diffuse texture. I was trying the "Random by Face Material ID" and Adjust the HSG but it affects all the faces equally so I don't the randomness being applied. Is there some pre-requisite for this to work properly?

In the Docs file there is a note that says "When adding subtextures to the Multi-Sub texture, the first one always starts with an index of 0. Note that only Face material ID utilizes index 0. When using any other option, please ignore or remove the 0 index texture!"

Can someone explain this? Thank You

    Hi Newgate,

There is no real way to apply face IDs in SketchUp and hence the use for this option is very limited.
Face IDs are assigned when you apply different materials to faces (its internal) but does not fit the workflow you're after.
I could have hidden the option because of that but we left it since Proxy Meshes with face IDs can also be exported from other V-Ray enabled apps and then loaded and shaded in SketchUp.
We might look into ways to enable face ID assignments in SU in the future but it'll not be that easy to use and maintain I'm afraid.

    Hope that makes sense,
    Konstantin

I See so that example shown in the webinar was a proxy floor with Face ID from another platform Hence why the example worked... Got it! i was a little confused thinking I missed something because the demonstration worked so well.
