  • Render does not launch

    Hi,

I need to render a large exterior scene with abundance of landscaping and I experience difficulties to use Light Gen or even launch render (it does not start rendering). The scene is heavy but I optimized it by using proxy meshes and keeping only necessary geometry for the shot. Can you tell me please if there are any good practices to work with large landscaping scenes and not lose in performance of VRay?

    Thank you.

    Hi russell_hatfield

Sorry to hear you are experiencing issues. Can you please clarify what difficulties are you experiencing with LightGen - i.e., it is taking too long to generate variants?

Regarding not being able to launch the render, are there any warnings or error messages printed in the V-Ray Progress Window?
We've prepared some great guides on Memoyr Usage Optimizations for GPU and CPU rendering which you could check:
    1. https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...+GPU+rendering
    2. https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...+CPU+rendering
Best would be to forward the project through our contact form - make sure to use the Pack Project tool from Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project, and mention this thread in the email. Thanks!

Thank you for the recommendation. The issue was related to VRAY lights location. I'm not sure how it works but once I placed VRAY lights outside of the components of lamps I was able to render even though the scene was heavy.

        Hi russell_hatfield,

This sounds like an issue on our end.
Can you still share the scene file (or a simplified version) to help us fix it?

        Thank you in advance,
        Konstantin
