  • Vray 5 denoiser image burnt

Hi. I just upgraded the vray 5 and tried the first render on the new version.
i usually turn the highlight burn to 0 on display correction,
but effectresult looks fine but the denoiser image is still burnt.
I'm not sure this is normal or there're something wrong with the settings..

    Hi philippe_grasset

I can't seem to get any issues with the effectsresult channel when setting the Highlight Burn value to 0 and using Denoiser on a (very) simple test: see screenshot.
What if you go to the Denoiser Render Element, are you seeing any issues there? Are you using any VFB layer presets?

Can you forward us an example project with the issue reproducible which we can check in our environment? You can reach us through our contact form - just make sure to mention this thread in the email, thanks.

      Hi,
      Sorry for late answer.
Well it seems the exposure adjustment with 0 burn applies only to the effectresult layer, see attached renders with layers

I got it, you remove the burn in the asset editor, not in the VFB anymore....

            Hi philippe_grasset,

The setting in the Asset Editor and the one in the VFB are separate things - both can be used depending on what you're after.
The Asset Editor's Highlight Burn is actually 'baked' in the image (it is to some extent clamping image color values that exceed 1).
The VFB counterpart is giving you a similar effect but in a non-destructive way.
It preserve the high dynamic range of the image displayed in the VFB.

If you compare the results between highlight burn enabled in the asset editor and disabled in the VFB against the opposite - the results should match.
If you see difference please let us know.

            Konstantin
