  • Upgrading sketchup 2018 to 2021 pro and v-ray

    Hi,
I would like to upgrade sketchup 2018 to 2021 pro, but I am currently working on a project with sketchup 2018.
For a test, I transfer the file form sketchup 2018 to a sketchup 2019pro and I get the message'' upgrading v-ray components...''. but I notice sketchup 2018, 2019 and 2020 should be using the same v-ray version, so why is it upgrading ?
will it have any issues after my upgrade to sketchup 2021 to revisit my old files on sketchup 2018 on v-ray ? would I able to redo rendering on my older files and keep the setting I had ?
    Thanks

    Hi frederique_majeau ,

The SketchUp version is not something that V-Ray cares about.
This means that if you have the same V-Ray version installed in both SUs, the models are compatible.

However, the 'upgrade' message from the screenshot suggests you have a newer V-Ray version than the one used when saving the model.
Upgrading the model will basically make it incompatible with older V-Ray versions.

You should not experience any issues if you have downloaded the latest V-Ray (from the other screenshot) and installed it for all SketchUp versions on the system.

    Regards,
    Konstantin
