Scattering Chaos Cosmos proxies with Skatter or similar

Hey there.

Is there any way to scatter chaos cosmos assets along a scene using Skatter or a similar program? I wanted to do that for vegetation in an exterior rendering. However, when I do it, everything works fine, but in the final image instead of the correct models, the proxies show up with the random colors. Is there any way to do it via merging the proxies or is there another way to scatter assets without doing it manually?

Hi jose_ferreira,

On a simple test, scattering Chaos Cosmos assets with Skatter seems to work as expected. Can you provide some example screenshots/recordings demonstrating the issue? Are the proxies showing correctly with the right materials if they are not scattered?

Additional details regarding the system configuration along with exact SketchUp/V-Ray/Skatter versions will be greatly appreciated!

Hey there!
I just did new tests to show you, on a new file. I am using the latest Vray 5 version and Sketchup 2021. Also, I purchased skatter just 1 or 2 months ago, so the version should be the latest as well. Here are two quick examples: I just imported a bush and a tree from Chaos Chosmos and used Skatter to scatter them in a simple plane. As you can see, the original model is fine, but the scattered ones are not. I don't know if the settings are important, but in these example i am using CPU, changed to irradiance map and im using bucket mode.

Edit: After these screenshots, I also tried merging the proxy and the copies just don't show up in the render, even though they appear in skatter.

Edit 2: Apparently the problem is having the option "Render only" turned on in Skatter. After seeing your post, I tried turning it off. Problem solved! Here is the difference:

We fixed this issue in Skatter v1.4.21. Please make sure you are running the latest version: https://getskatter.com/download/
