  • Binding Options Problem

    Hello,
I have a problem with the Binding options.

Here are the options for a Generic material from a new Sketchup/V-Ray file.

Here are the options of a Generic material from an old Sketchup/V-Ray file.

How do I get all 3 Binding options when working on an old Sketchup/V-Ray file?
    Windows 10 - RTX 3090 - AMD Ryzen 9 5950X - 128 Go RAM
    Sketchup PRO 24.0.594 + V-Ray 7.00.01
    3DS Max 2024.2.7 + V-Ray 6.20.06
    3DS Max 2025.3 + V-Ray 7.00.04
    Chaos Vantage 2.6.2
GeForce Studio Ready Driver Version 566.14

      Hi DCHA34,

Excuse me for the delayed response.

For some reason I can't see the full-size screenshots but I'm guessing that the binding options are missing in the old file.
This should actually never be the case and looks like a bug.

Is it possible for you to share the file with the problematic materials?
It will help us a great deal.

In the meantime you can try the following.
Run this script in the model you're having issues with:
      Code:
      VRay::Context.active.scene["/SettingsOptions"][:binding_support] = ["bind_all_on", "bind_color_on", "bind_texture_on", "bind_texture_mode", "bind_opacity_on"]
      VRay.refresh_ui
It should bring the binding settings back on.

      Regrads,
      Konstantin

              Hi,

              Here is the problematic file.
Hum, I don't see any files.

In any case the good news is that the binding options are serialized to the model and not to individual materials.
This means that after running this script it's 100% safe to continue working on the project or using the materials.

I suspect that you've loaded a .vropt (render settings) file at one point which might have caused the issue.
This is possible if for example the vropt was exported from Rhino.

If however this happens again in a new project (without loading settings presets) let me know and please try to remember the steps you took before it happened.

              Thank you in advance.

              Konstantin

                Hi,
the link is in my post in attached files. I see it.

                No matter.

Maybe I was able to import a .VROPT, but in this case it's a .VROPT from another Sketchup file. I don't have Rhino.

I'll let you know if it happens again.

                Thank you.
