  • updated to 5.2 and some issues appear. OptiX error encountered in vray_optix7.cpp[333]. Error Code 7050

    1. Progress bars in VFB don't always show up, sometimes disappear, sometimes appear. Disappear most of the time.

    2. It seems to be using more GPU memory. I tried a few large scenes that were rendered properly in 5.1.
    But In 5.2, errors occurred:
    ......
    2021/11/9 12:27:32 Error [V-Ray] [VUtils::VOptix::OptixPipelineWrapper::launchForOOC] 7050: OptiX error encountered in vray_optix7.cpp[333]. Error Code 7050

    ......
This error message kept popping up and repeating, and I couldn't stop rendering or even couldn't close SketchUp.
This error occurred when start building the GPU light cache. My cards are 2 x RTX3080Ti. Tried both CUDA and RTX engines, same error.
In small scenes, everything is back to normal.

    Hi hill_lam,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We do have some similar reports, which you can check here.

If possible, please send us the project file (use the Pack Project tool from Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project) so we can inspect it. You can forward it via our contact form, just make sure to mention this thread (or my name) in the form subject. Much appreciated!

This issue is 100% reproducible and is already logged in our bug-tracking system.
I'll let you know when we make progress in that regard.

We have already identified a memory leak related to GPU Light Cache.
We'll still test your project to determine whether there are additional problems.

        Regards,

            Hey SSD_7090,

We've just released a stable build addressing an issue with GPU memory, which you can find here - https://nightlies.chaosgroup.com/mai...table/20211112

Please give it a try and let us know the results. Thanks!

Hi Nikoleta, thanks for the link. Unfortunately, even with this stable build I'm having the same problem. Anything rendered with GPU over 1000x500 at medium quality crashes.

                Hi SSD_7090,

Is it possible to forward us a packed project which we could check in our environment as well? You can send it via our contact form, just make sure to mention this thread in the subject.

Details about your system - OS/CPU/GPU/driver version would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

                  Hi SSD_7090,

We have identified one more GPU issue caused by the On-demand mipmapping option.
You can try disabling it (in case it's on):
