  • Cannot minimise frame buffer window independantly of SU

I have just downloaded the latest Vray 5.2 which I have running with SU 21.1.331 on MacOS Big Sur 11.6.

I noticed this issue with previous versions of Vray 5 and hoped this version would see it fixed: when I minimise the frame buffer window to get to my SU scene behind, the entire SU window minimises with it. On restoring the window, the frame buffer returns with it. The close window button on the Frame Buffer works erratically, normally doing nothing, unless I click the Show Frame Buffer tile in the Asset Editor first, then I can normally close. I have to just move the frame buffer to one side to continue working in SU. It is annoying enough on my dual screen work setup, but really bad when working on my laptop at home.

Is it just me, haven't spotted this reported in the forum (apologies if its a known issue).

    Hey KLPSWD,

We are indeed aware of this behavior (logged under SK-3450), but it seems like this is the default parent-child behavior on macOS, not sure if we're able to do anything on the matter.

      HI Nikoleta -

Thanks for the reply. I didn't experience this issue with Vray 4, so hope perhaps you will in fact be able to fix in v5. I can understand if the Sketchup Window (parent) is minimised the Frame buffer (child) would also be minimised. It seems odd that minimising the child window would affect the parent though?

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can fix it!

The current behavior is due to limitations of the platform used to build the current VFB interface and is ultimately a result of a compromise that provides the best overall ratio between stability and usability.
Our dev team is well aware it still requires improvement and hope to deliver a better solution in one of the upcoming updates!
