  • Missing materials during import DAE

    Hello to all,
when I import a DAE file (from Blender, I only have this software to test) the materials are present in the Materials tab of Sketchup, but they are absent from the Materials tab of the Asset Editor.
I have to save the file, close it and reopen it so that the materials appear in the Asset Editor.

    Known problem?

Once i had that problem, create a new material in vray, or drag any vray library materials to the list, missing materials will come.. I hope..

        Hi,
Thanks for the tip. I will try that.
So it seems to be a bug, if it happens to you too.

          Hi guys,

The described behavior is unfortunately the expected one.
V-Ray relies on something called "observers" in SketchUp to know that the model has changed somehow.
After we detect a change we can execute some V-Ray side code to handle the change - like adding a new material.
Unfortunately for some of these import operations the SketchUp observers don't fire and there is no way for V-Ray to react.
From V-Ray's standpoint nothing in the model has changed.
We will gen in touch with Trimble and se if they can make a fix on the SketchUp side.
In the meantime you'll have to work around it.

Note that if you import the file before V-Ray is activated in the model (before clicking any of the V-Ray toolbar buttons) you'll see the materials in the Asset Editor after you activate.

          Regards,
          Konstantin
